You can make it in various types by changing the seasoning sauce or salts and you can enjoy different tastes. Here are the following steps to make a beef jerky in the food dehydrator:
Step 1: Select the right piece of Beef to cut
Select the right piece of beef which will cut easily and thin pieces are made by it because they will dry easily. The flanks must be lean because they have fats, which will make more risk of spoiling and rancidity.
Use a sharp knife to cut or trim the beef. Remove the excess layers of fat in the flanks. Make the both sides of flank to be free of excess fat. Then make the slices of the flakes in the direction across the fibres as it will be easy to chew the jerky then.
Step 2: Make the spicy seasoning
The ingredients of seasoning are as follows:
- 2lbs of flank of beef
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp of garlic powder
- 1 tsp of red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp of smoked paprika
- 2 tsp of fresh ground black pepper
- 1 tsp of raw honey
- 2/3 cup of Worcestershire Sauce
- 2/3 cup of Soy Sauce
Mix all these ingredients properly.
Step 3: Marinade the jerky
Pour all the seasoning on your jerky and marinade it properly by rubbing the seasoning on the jerky. Then pack the marinade jerky in the airtight plastic bag and place it in freezer for 1 hour. So the seasoning absorb in it properly.
Step 4: Dry the jerky in food dehydrator
Remove the jerky from the plastic bag and shake it to remove the extra marinade material. Then place it in the single layers in the dehydrator. Avoid overlapping and set the temperature to 155 degrees. And left it for 4-6 hours in the dehydrator so that it will dry properly. Check it when it is completely dry. Put it out and dish out for your guests. You can also store it at cool as well as room temperature. Put it away from moisture to make its long shelf life.
