Dehydrating food at home is an alluring prospective. Why you ask? To boot, its a simple process that doesn’t require too much effort and helps you eat healthier. How so, you may think. Well, with a food dehydrator you can prepare a whole bunch of nutritious snacks, meals, and if you pay it right, even desserts. We’re talking sweet kale crisps, nutmeg pear chips, meat jerky, fruit roll ups, and so much more—all without additional sugars, preservatives, or other chemicals. That’s just the start though, because not only will you be eating healthier with a food dehydrator in your kitchen, but you’ll also be saving time, money, and food that was destined to get spoiled from going to waste. If you’ve got a busy life, an active lifestyle, or frequently planned camping trips, you’ll appreciate the art of food dehydration even more, for this machine is a great way to ensure you’re eating healthy without changing your schedules or plans.
Of course, the rising demand also means rise in supply and thus, there are many food dehydrators on the market available in the market. So, how do you know the one you’ve picked is right? There’s a bunch of factors to consider. Today, we’re looking at the Tribest Sedona Express food dehydrator that hopes to be the best of them all by offering a streamlined design that makes dehydrating food easy and safe.
Features
- Digital Controls and Displays: The digital controls and displays make it easy to set the dehydrator to the right temperature. The digital display numbers are large and easy to read even from a distance. Further, the temperature range is from 77°-167° F, conforming to the USDA beef jerky preparation guidelines and allowing you to prepare a variety of foods in this dehydrator perfectly. Not only that, the temperature control has two-stage sequential temperature timer that you can set on the display, helping you prevent the loss of enzymes and nutrients in the foods as they dry.
- Glass Door: The transparent door on the Tribest Sedona Express makes it easy to monitor your food as it dehydrates. There’s also LED lighting inside to help you see-through and properly determine the state of your food as it dehydrated. The door is hinged and simple to open and close.
- 11 Trays: This dehydrator comes with a whopping 11-tray set up, allowing you to dehydrate a large amount of food at one time. This helps you be more efficient in the kitchen—spend less time prepping and more enjoying the results.
- Non-Flammable and BPA-Free Plastic: It’s important for a product that will be hot for a long period of time to be non-flammable, and the Tribest Sedona Express is. The body of the dehydrator is also made of BPA-free plastic, so you don’t have to worry about toxins from the plastic leeching into your food and disrupting your plans of healthy eating.
- Overheat Protection: Another key feature to protect against over dehydration, this requires the users to set the maximum temperature they want instead of an average. This helps food cook properly without the threat of enzyme degradation.
Pros
- The multitude of shelves allow users to dehydrate large portions of food at once. If you’re someone with a large family, a garden which yields large amounts of harvest, a camping obsession due to which you often find yourself in the middle of the forrest for a few weeks at a time, or simply low patience, you’ll find its large capacity to be particularly beneficial.
- This product has a 10-year warranty, so even though the Tribest Sedona Express costs a little more, consumers can feel confident that the warranty they receive is long-lasting.
- There are 2 dehydrating modes—fast and raw. This feature lets consumers determine the final outcome of the food they are dehydrating based on their personal preferences.
- The mesh and drip trays are dishwasher safe. If you started your dehydrating journey a while ago, you know how critical a part of the process cleaning is. While most models have easy cleaning methods, having trays that are dishwasher safe is an absolute boon.
- The fan in the Tribest Sedona Express is centrally located. This leads to food cooking evenly and ensures a more consistent batch of dehydrated products. It also means there’s no need to turn trays in the middle of the dehydrating process.
- 10-years warranty! Long warranties aren’t very common in dehydrator’s and Tribest surely gets extra points for showcasing its commitment to consumers with 10 years coverage in the mix.
Cons
- Many users mentioned the cooking trays sagging after the first use. Though this didn’t cause any major problems, they were concerned about the trays possibly warping more over time. The reduced durability could potentially mean more investment, because should the trays get spoiled, you’ll have to buy new ones.
- Consumers almost universally agreed that the instruction manual was hard to understand. Most said they had to figure out how to work the dehydrator on their own before being able to make sense of the directions. Thus, this is definitely not a model a newcomer should purchase. Previous experience will help in maneuvering the difficulties with instructions.
- The Tribest Sedona Express is marketed as a compact dehydrator. However, many users felt that to be untrue. The dehydrator is the same size as two microwave ovens combined, so if you don’t have a ton of extra counter space, it may not feel compact.
Final Thoughts
Dehydrators are popular items, and there are plenty of choices for those looking to purchase one. The market is competitive, which is why the Tribest Sedona Express is built to be a reliable dehydrator that is efficient and safe. A large quantity of delicious food can be cooked using this product without the consumer worrying about turning trays. If you want a high quality dehydrator for your kitchen, the Tribest Sedona Express is for you. But you’ll want to be careful if you’re looking for something compact, and maybe test another product. This may also not be the most ideal choice for novices.

I bought the Sedona to make beef and chicken jerky in addition to drying a variety of fruits. It handles all the tasks well. I especially like the glass front door and controls. The trays are smaller compared to some models. But, I like the fact that the Tribest does not need that much space. It runs really quiet. I also appreciate the rear fan filter for keeping out dust or other debris. I did notice that the steel trays bow slightly and stay that way. The machine has plenty of power and adequate space between the trays. The Sedona heats fast and exceeds the temperature when set in “fast” mode. The temperature was also higher in “raw” mode. I don’t think I will have to worry about salmonella contamination. I am really pleased with my dehydrator. I like the looks of the unit. It’s easy to use and clean. I am also impressed by the 10-year warranty.
Since my dehydrator arrived, I’ve been using it for a month and am really impressed. I have dried fruits, vegetables, meats and nuts, and the machine works well. The two-stage sequential timer quick-starts the unit so you spend less time creating raw recipes. While running, the noise level is pretty low. The steel trays fit in the machine well without sagging. It comes with 11 trays. Although the space between shelves is narrow, the interior is also deeper. The back of the Sedona has two handles that make moving the dehydrator relatively simple. The controls and read-out display are digital, and the glass hinged front door makes loading and unloading easy. It is also nice to be able to see the food. The manufacturer must stand by their product, as it comes with a 10-year warranty.
I bought this machine because my daughter got me interested in drying fruits, vegetables and meats. I think that the appliance functions amazingly well. It is much larger than I expected. I used a recipe from the booklet to make kale chips. The finished product was so much better than using a conventional oven. The chips stayed bright green, were flavorful and had just the right amount of crisp. The trays are easy to clean and very sturdy.
Since owning my Sedona, I’ve used the machine for drying flowers, fruit, vegetables and teas. I also get great results. The overall size of the unit is similar to that of an 1,100 watt microwave oven. When running, the dehydrator makes no more noise than an operating convection oven. One of the reasons I decided to by the Tribest was because of the airflow design and the temperature control module. The open trays enable air to flow evenly throughout the interior of the dehydrator, which makes everything on the trays dry at an even rate. I love the temperature control, as I prefer dehydrating at the lowest temperature possible. This eliminates the moisture while preserving the nutrients. The internal light also lets you see what’s going on during the process. Though the dehydrator may cost a little more compared to other brands and models, I feel it was well worth the price. It also comes with an extensive warranty. I would definitely recommend this appliance.
